Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity seeks a Special Education teacher certified in Hearing Impairment (HI) to serve students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an in-person school setting located in Maricopa, AZ. This is a contract position designed to support specialized educational needs within the school community.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing individualized education plans (IEPs) Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to create accessible learning environments Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly Facilitate communication between students, families, and staff to promote student success Support the development of social and communication skills through specialized teaching methods
Qualifications:
Current certification as a Special Education teacher with an endorsement or certification in Hearing Impairment (HI) Experience working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing preferred Strong understanding of Deaf culture, assistive technology, and communication methodologies such as sign language or auditory-verbal techniques Commitment to inclusive, student-centered educational approaches Excellent communication and collaboration skills
