This role centers on the STC 2 program, which supports learners from multiple grade levels in a self-contained environment. The classroom utilizes a highly structured routine, rich with visual supports and embedded language strategies, designed to facilitate learning and foster student success. Academic modifications are often necessary to ensure all students benefit from and access the general education curriculum.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid special education teaching certification. Experience in a self-contained or specialized classroom strongly preferred. Familiarity with instructional strategies such as heavy visual supports, routines, and adapted communication. Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs). Skilled in modifying curricula to meet varied student needs. Strong collaboration and communication skills with school teams, parents, and related service providers. Effective classroom management and commitment to student growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead instruction for middle school students in the STC 2 self-contained program. Establish a consistent, highly structured learning environment. Implement visual and language supports throughout each day. Develop, monitor, and update IEPs for assigned students. Modify general education curriculum materials as needed for student access.
