A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Special Education Teacher Competetive pay, comprehensive medical, vision and dental, supplemental and retirement as well as tuition assistance. Excellent paid trainings and opportunities for advancement in a growing business. Must have Special Education Credential or be working toward credential with a minimum of bachelors degree. Prefer experience teaching special needs students and designing individualized curriculum. Ability to write IEPs, work with a variety of educational technology, CPR/First Aid, Fingerprint Clearance, and Crisis Intervention training preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with families and staff a must. This is a 10 month position. Option to be paid over 10 months or 12.
