A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Position Overview Setting:
On-site K-12 Public School Classrooms (Resource, Inclusion, or Specialized SDC)
Start Date:
Immediate Caseloads:
Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) or Extensive Support Needs (ESN / Mod-Severe) What You Will Do Provide direct, targeted instruction to individual students and small groups based on IEP goals. Write, track, and manage IEPs using district software like SEIS. Work alongside general ed teachers, paras, speech therapists, and parents to implement student accommodations and behavior plans. Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment using behavioral strategies and assistive tech.
What You Need Degree:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
Credential:
Active California Education Specialist Instruction Credential. Preliminary, Clear, Level I/II.
Authorizations:
Preferred R3MM (Mild/Moderate) or R3EN (Extensive Support Needs), plus English Learner Authorization ( ELAE or CLAD ).
