Job Description

Step into an enriching contract role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing for the upcoming school year. This is an on-site, itinerant position, working across multiple school locations in the Hayward, CA area from August 10, 2026, to June 4, 2027, with a 37.5-hour week. You'll play a vital role in bridging educational access and fostering communication, ensuring each student reaches their fullest potential in in-person settings—no virtual assignments.

Key Qualifications:

Active Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching certification or license in California Background as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Demonstrated strength in organization, flexibility, and effective communication Previous experience navigating multiple school sites and collaborating with diverse education teams Familiarity with California educational standards and protocols

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across designated in-person school sites Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, families, and other specialists to integrate and support DHH students in a variety of learning environments Advocate for student needs and ensure access to appropriate assistive technology and accommodations Maintain thorough documentation, progress reports, and communication with all stakeholders This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated educator who thrives in a dynamic, multi-site environment and is passionate about increasing students' independence and participation.
