A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

TGAOC is a small, private school serving medically fragile students and children with moderate to severe disabilities. Our classrooms are intentionally calm, highly individualized, and centered around dignity, compassion, and helping every student reach their fullest potential. Responsibilities Step into the classroom when our lead teacher is absent and maintain a positive, structured learning environment. Follow lesson plans and daily schedules provided by the classroom teacher. Work collaboratively with classroom aides, therapists, and administration. Assist students with academic, communication, sensory, and recreational activities. Support a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children (special education teaching credential required). Patient, compassionate, and dependable. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm, flexible, and positive. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling. A small, supportive team environment.
