Unity Nurture Innovation Tenacity Empowerment Dignity AACA is a Nonpublic School (NPS) serving students ages 5 to 22 with severe behavioral and developmental needs. Our mission is to provide individualized instruction and therapeutic support to help each student reach their fullest potential in a structured, compassionate environment. We are seeking a dedicated and patient Special Education Teacher to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with severe behavioral challenges, autism spectrum disorders, or other developmental disabilities. This position involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with support staff and families, and utilizing evidence-based strategies to support positive behavior and learning. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:30AM-3:30PM.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with students' IEP goals Use behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports effectively Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and behavior specialists Track and document student progress and maintain accurate records Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress Foster a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and professional development activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) required Experience working with students with severe behavioral needs strongly preferred Strong understanding of ABA principles, de-escalation strategies, and individualized supports Excellent communication and collaboration skills
