Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students to reach their full potential by sharing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. In this rewarding contract position, you'll work in a supportive school environment close to the vibrant community of Manhattan Beach. You'll collaborate with dedicated educators and families to create inclusive educational experiences and foster student growth.
Desired Background and Qualifications:
State certification or credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification) Background in educational strategies for students with hearing impairments Experience with individualized education plans (IEPs) Comfortable utilizing assistive technology and alternative communication methods (ASL, Cued Speech, etc.) Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams Strong communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction adapted to the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Assess student progress and adjust strategies to promote learning and independence Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with the education team and families Coordinate services and supports, including interpreting or amplification as needed Offer expertise and consultation to general education staff regarding accommodations and best practices Foster a supportive, positive classroom atmosphere where all students feel included and empowered In return for your dedication, you'll enjoy the professional fulfillment of seeing diverse learners succeed, as well as the chance to develop lasting relationships within an outstanding school community.
