Qualifications & Experience:

Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. Prior experience working with visually impaired students in educational environments is highly valued. Proficiency in Braille and other assistive technologies or adaptive tools for students with visual impairments. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well with educators, support staff, parents, and other professionals. Passion for creating individualized instructional plans that address diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curricula and materials for accessibility. Assess students' strengths and needs, and develop personalized education plans. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications. Serve as a resource and advocate for students, offering training to staff and caregivers on the use of adaptive equipment and techniques. Track progress, document services, and participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions. Foster a positive, empowering learning environment that encourages student independence.
