Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid certification or credential for teaching Deaf / Hard of Hearing students (state requirements apply) Prior experience in an educational setting serving deaf or hard of hearing children, particularly at the elementary level Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with visual communication strategies Understanding of relevant technology, adaptive equipment, and assistive listening devices Ability to tailor instructional approaches to meet individual student needs Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing within classroom settings Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Advocate for student needs and ensure appropriate classroom accommodations and modifications Utilize a variety of instructional methods, materials, and technologies to optimize student engagement and learning Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed, maintaining accurate and timely records Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive educational environment
