Full Job Description Position Type:
Full-time Hourly, Non-Exempt Field Employee. (full time is considered a minimum of 90 billable hours per month. This is not necessarily a 40 hour a week position since you make your own schedule. Full time works is not guaranteed until the 2nd week of training completion)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Early Intervention Specialist will assist in designing, implementing and adapting activities for language, cognition, fine and gross motor, sensory processing, self-help/adaptive, and social-emotional development, for each child in our program to support their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Additionally, they will: Collaborate with parents, support and reinforce their efforts to maximize their child's potential. Work as a Transdisciplinary team with all professionals involved with each individual child (Infant Service Coordinator, Therapists, Director, Local School Agency or any other professionals involved). Represent About The Kids on interagency councils, coalitions, committees or task forces as assigned. Schedule and administer appropriate and valid developmental assessments and type necessary summary reports on an annual, semiannual and as-needed basis. Communicate with Area Mentor in regard to ongoing home visitation consistency (no shows, cancellations, family schedules and parent participation). Communicate to and collaborate with Area Mentor in regard to all "high risk" family situations. Model effective adult-child interactions and provide written information on parenting and child development, as needed. Provide parents with weekly recommendations. Allow flexibility in scheduling so as to accompany the Area Mentor on initial visits and meet parents as needed for scheduling home visits (i.e.: early evening appointments may be necessary). Conduct oneself in a professional manner in dress, conversation and actions at all times while representing ATK. Maintain confidentiality of all child and family information. Document phone, text, email, and face-to-face contact with the family and their infant service coordinator on the company server. Monitor and share the child's progress with the family and Area Mentor. Area Mentor will contact ISC with any issues that need communicated. Complete and submit accurate paperwork via iPad or Laptop (activity report, notice of change, monthly calendar, assessments, progress reports, etc.) as required and in a timely manner. Submit monthly calendar to Area Mentor by the last day of each month on the birdhouse (server) and notify the office of any changes as they occur (such as client moves, no shows and eligibility review.) Attend professional development opportunities to enhance skills as an EIS (a minimum of one outside training per year) is required and mandated by both IRC and DDS. Abide by all program policies and other guidelines set forth during orientation and throughout training opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a field related to early intervention Minimum of 1-year experience working with infants or young children and their families Demonstrate an understanding of the unique needs of young children with disabilities or who are at risk for such and their family Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills Must have current Driver's License, car registration, auto insurance and current DMV print out Must have current Infant/Child CPR Submit to and pass a criminal background check Past employee reference check Completion of written and oral basic competencies assessment (administered by About The Kids Representative during interview process) Our program offers services to families M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Evening and weekend visits are optional to the specialist.
