Job Description

Looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? An experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired is needed for a contract assignment during the 2026-2027 school year. Work on-site supporting students across a dynamic district near Oakland, CA, where your expertise will empower students with visual impairments to thrive in their educational journey.
Qualifications:
Valid California teaching credential with a Visually Impaired (VI) endorsement required Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a school setting preferred Strong understanding of Braille, adaptive technology, and individualized instructional strategies Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff Commitment to inclusive education and student success
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across multiple sites on an itinerant basis Develop and adapt educational materials using accessible formats Work closely with classroom teachers, IEP teams, and families to ensure each student's educational needs are met Assess students' functional vision and learning media preferences Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to development and implementation of individualized education plans Serve as a resource for staff regarding best practices for visual impairment accessibility and learning Maintain accurate documentation and regularly communicate student progress This position offers a contract running from October 12, 2026, to June 4, 2027, with a full-time, 35 hour per week schedule.
