Job Description

Job Title:

Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Teacher

  • Mild/Moderate (M/M)
Grade Levels:

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Employment Type:

Full-Time (Typically 180-185 days per school year)

Reports To:

School Principal and/or Director of Special Education

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Case Management & Compliance

IEP Development:

Lead the creation, implementation, and annual review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for an assigned caseload.

Legal Compliance:

Maintain precise, legally defensible paperwork in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state education codes.

Progress Monitoring:

Consistently collect data, track progress toward academic/behavioral IEP goals, and issue quarterly or trimester progress reports to families.

Assessments:

Administer and interpret academic diagnostic assessments for initial, annual, and triennial special education evaluations.

Instructional Support & Delivery

Targeted Delivery:

Provide specialized academic instruction using both "push-in" (collaborative/co-teaching in general education) and "pull-out" (small group resource room) models.

Curriculum Modification:

Help general education teachers modify assignments, tests, and projects to align with students' accommodations.

Executive Functioning:

Explicitly teach middle school success skills, including organization, time management, note-taking, and test-taking strategies.

Collaboration & Communication

Co-Teaching Partnership:

Work side-by-side with general education subject teachers (Math, English, Science) to design accessible lesson plans.

Parent Liaison:

Act as the primary point of contact for parents, hosting IEP meetings and offering strategies for home support.

Team Management:

Direct, schedule, and supervise classroom paraprofessionals or instructional aides assigned to support caseload students.

Salary:

$55 to $60 Per Hour
