This contract opportunity supports a Special Day class for 2nd and 3rd graders, with a close-knit caseload of up to 12 students and the support of three dedicated paraprofessionals alongside you. With three other Special Day classes on site, theres a strong culture of collaboration and shared success. This position offers flexibility, covering a leave with potential to extend through the end of the school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching credential (Mod/Severe preferred; Mild/Mod may be considered for short-term coverage) Background working with elementary students, especially ages 79 Solid understanding of IEP development, goal setting, and data collection Effective communication and collaborative skills, enabling positive engagement with paraprofessionals, colleagues, and families Proficiency in fostering inclusive, positive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs in a self-contained, supportive classroom environment Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure all students receive differentiated support Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, working closely with families and staff Participate in meetings, school activities, and team planning with other Special Day class educators Maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment focused on growth and independence This is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and contribute to an enthusiastic educational community.
