Job Summary This position provides individualized academic support to students who are temporarily unable to attend school due to a disability. The instructor works collaboratively with the student's classroom teacher(s), counselor, school administrator, and family to support continuity of instruction and academic progress. Depending on the assignment and the student's needs, instruction may be provided in the student's home, at a public location, virtually, or at a school site. Duties and responsibilities include providing individualized instruction across a variety of subject areas; accessing and navigating Google Classroom and other instructional platforms; using video communication applications, such as Zoom, to provide virtual instruction when appropriate; maintaining effective communication with the student, classroom teacher(s), counselor, school administrator, and family; serving as a liaison between the student's regular instructional program and the home or alternative instructional setting; and coordinating with classroom teacher(s) regarding assignments, instructional materials, and student progress. Requirements and qualifications include possession of a valid California teaching credential. Career Technical Education (CTE) credentials do not qualify for this assignment. The instructor must also have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, families, teachers, counselors, and administrators, as well as strong communication, organization, and technology skills.
