A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Requirements / Qualifications A valid California Special Ed Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) Credential is required as well as an Added Authorization in Autism. Also required is at least one of the following authorizations to teach

English Learners:
CTEL, CLAD, BCLAD, AB2913

training (formerly

SB395 OR SB1969

) or

SB2042 EL

Authorization. Applicants who do not have a valid credential the first day of the school year will not be considered. 30-day Substitute Credentials are NOT valid credentials for contracted positions in our district. Please attach a Cover Letter, Resume and at least 2 RECENT letters of recommendation to the online application. Comments and Other Information

Signing Stipend:

SAI teachers and SLP's shall receive a signing bonus of $5,000, phased in over three years: $1,000, in the first year; $2,000 in the second year; $2,000 in the third year.
