OF POSITION
: Under the supervision of the Educational Services Administrator Supporting Induction, provide instructional mentoring and support to teachers with preliminary teaching credentials. In addition to mentoring, provide professional learning in areas such as implementing instructional strategies aligned to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP), common core state standards, classroom management, culture and climate, analyzing student learning, and differentiated instruction to support all students.

Beginning Teachers:
Provide individualized mentoring support, bi-monthly non-evaluative classroom observations with feedback, support with planning and other forms of assistance to new teachers. Meet with induction candidates a minimum of 1-hour a week for individualized mentoring support. Enter mentor-teacher interactions on the digital platform on a weekly basis. Collaboratively develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each teacher being supported. Maintain and submit required program documentation. Maintain an updated coaching calendar reflecting scheduled meetings. Ensure Induction requirements are being met by following the guidelines in the VCUSD Teacher Induction Program Handbook. Assist beginning teachers in reflecting on and analyzing their practice and reviewing student work to inform instruction and enhance student achievement; uses knowledge of equity principles to deepen beginning teachers' application of CSTP's. Model, as appropriate, innovative teaching methodologies through techniques such as co-teaching and demonstration lessons; provide opportunities for beginning teachers to observe exemplary practice by arranging inter-site visitations. Maintain accurate time and attendance records. Encourage beginning teachers to identify instructional resources and support throughout the entire school community; incorporate technology and analysis of data to advance both beginning teacher learning and classroom practice. Promote collegiality and build community among new teachers by providing professional development. Interactions with
Principals and Induction Staff:
Engage in ongoing collaboration with principals and Induction staff to ensure coherence between coaching activities and school or induction expectations.
Individual professional growth:
Fully participate in mentor professional learning, including mentor forums, mentor observations and professional learning teams. Co-plan and facilitate professional learning for Induction candidates (under the supervision of the Induction Program Coordinator). Commit to growth along a continuum (Mentor Standards) and engage in goal-setting and reflection.
Professionalism in the workplace:
Maintain appropriate confidentiality for all aspects of the VCUSD Teacher Induction Program, including communications and documentation. Follow the roles and responsibilities of an Induction Coach.
CALENDAR AND WORKDAY
Teacher Leader for Induction (Full-Time Release) shall follow the certificated work calendar. The days and hours worked may be adjusted to meet the needs of the position, but shall not exceed the number of hours and days of the collective bargaining agreement. Any adjustments to the days and hours worked must be approved in advance by the supervisor.
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree Valid California Clear Teaching Credential Master's Degree (preferred) Three {3) years of teaching experience Two (2) years of instructional coaching experience (preferred) Cognitive Coaching Certification/Training (preferred) Experience delivering professional development to teachers Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Exemplary knowledge of Common Core State Standards, California Standards for the Teaching Profession, assessment systems and methods that improve student achievement in core content areas. Culturally Responsive Instruction and Pedagogy Documented success in engaging in cooperative and collaborative projects with adults. Experience related to adult learning (coaching, professional development, mentoring, and teaching). Successful teacher leadership or administrative experience. Demonstrated commitment to personal professional growth and learning. Willingness to engage in formative assessment processes, including non-evaluative, reflective conversations with beginning teachers using evidence of classroom practice and student learning. Evidence of excellent oral, written and technology skills. Experience working with state and local assessment data and the California Dashboard to inform instructional practices.
