A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with IEP goals Developing, implementing, and maintaining IEPs and required documentation Collaborating with General Education teachers, SLPs, OTs, paraprofessionals, administrators and families Monitoring student progress and adapting instruction to meet individual student needs Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications:

Active California Education Specialist Teaching Credential required Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification required School-based Special Education experience required/preferred

Pay:

$70.00 - $75.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
