Setting:
Outpatient / Specialized Day School (K-12) Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Special Education Teacher to join a premier specialized day school program in Westminster, CO. This role focuses on delivering specialized, research-based instruction to high school students with emotional disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning needs. As an IEP manager, you will work closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team, classroom assistants, and school leadership to create an empowering and nurturing educational environment. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage annual Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique academic and behavioral goals. Deliver individualized, research-based instruction using approved curriculum and modern technical tools (e.g., iPads). Conduct evaluations and assessments to track student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Manage classroom structure and behavior standards using CPI principles to foster a safe, positive learning environment. Supervise and direct classroom educational assistants/paraprofessionals (TSS). Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians and coordinate with school district representatives. Ensure full compliance with state due process procedures and district/state reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related teaching field from an accredited institution.
Licensure:
Active Colorado Special Education Certification or Alternative SPED Certification (or active state teaching license in progress to obtain CO certification).
Experience:
Prior experience in a special education setting preferred; Fully qualified new graduates with active certification are welcome to apply!
Skills:
Strong classroom management, IEP writing proficiency, CPI crisis intervention awareness, and effective communication skills.
Schedule & Shift Details Hours:
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through
Friday Structure:
Day shift only; no nights, weekends, or mandatory on-call requirements
