Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract position designed for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a difference in a supportive school environment. This full-time role focuses on a Social Emotional Behavioral (SEB) classroom, working with students in grades 3-5 and offers the opportunity to collaborate with caring professionals on strategies tailored to each learners needs.
Position Details:
Assignment duration: September 1 October 30, with the possibility of extension
Schedule:
Full-time hours, 8:20 am to 3:40 pm, Monday through
Friday Location:
Dedicated to one building for continuity and relationship building with students and staff Caseload includes: Managing SEB classroom for grades 3-5, serving students requiring specialized behavioral and emotional support
Qualifications:
Valid CT Special Education (SPED) Teaching License required Prior experience or training working in Special Education, particularly with social-emotional and behavioral needs Ability to create, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student goals Strong skills in behavior management and positive behavioral intervention strategies Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with families, support staff, and administration
Key Responsibilities:
Develop lesson plans and provide direct instruction that addresses both academic and behavioral objectives Implement evidence-based interventions and maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment Monitor and record student progress, adjusting approaches as required Collaborate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to ongoing team planning Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student is encouraged to achieve their best Make an impact where it counts every day and build valuable experience working in a focused classroom setting.
