Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful contract role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher in Stamford, Connecticut. Shape the educational journey of students in self-contained or resource/co-teaching classrooms, focusing on core areas such as English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics. Whether teaching a small, self-contained group of approximately 8 students or collaborating in a resource/co-teaching environment with 20-25 students, your expertise will spark growth and confidence.
Essential Qualifications:
Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement At least 2 years of recent teaching experience with high school learners Strong skills in writing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs Comprehensive understanding of diverse learning needs and instructional strategies
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction in core subject areas Write and implement effective IEPs tailored to each student's strengths and needs Present at and participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams Assess student progress, conduct educational testing, and utilize results in goal tracking Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment Case management supported by district office administration
