Educators with experience teaching in Montessori and International Baccalaureate are strongly encouraged contact our academic leadership: Jess Bradfield Keith, Head of the Whitby Montessori Children's House (preschool through kindergarten) Laura McDermott, Head of Lower School (Grades 1-4) Michelle Jones, Head of Middle School (Grades 5-8) Stepping Stones Teacher Under the direction of the Head of Whitby Montessori Children's House, the teacher follows the Montessori philosophy, the school's mission, purposes and objectives, and all school policies and procedures for the purpose of maintaining quality and excellence.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes a culture of thinking, stimulates inquiry and develops an appreciation of the validity of diverse perspectives Engages students in active learning Delivers differentiated instruction based on identified student needs and learning styles Utilizes a range of teaching techniques effectively and inquiry-based instruction whenever appropriate Promotes an appreciation of global-mindedness throughout our curriculum Develops the use of technology as a learning tool within the classroom and as an extension of the classroom when distance learning situations arise Uses a variety of assessment tools and strategies to assess student learning
COMMUNICATION
Communicates with students, families, colleagues, and community members, in a professional manner Positively resolves conflicts and communicates openly and constructively Actively collaborates with colleagues Acts professionally at all times to represent the school appropriately as per Whitby's social media policy outlined in the Whitby Employee Handbook Utilizes respectful and clear communication with students Uses technology platforms effectively to communicate with students and families
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Experience with preschool age group ranging from 18 months to 3 years old Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment Experience with educational technology Strong work ethic and commitment to professional growth Flexibility and adaptability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
