Job Description

POSITION

Special Education Teacher

SCHOOL:

New Fairfield High School Key Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Assess student performance using formal and informal measures and utilize data to guide instruction and interventions.

Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals related to reading, writing, executive functioning, and academic achievement.

Collaborate with general education teachers to support student access to grade-level curriculum and accommodations.

Participate in PPT meetings, case management activities, and compliance-related documentation.

Utilize multisensory instructional strategies to address deficits in phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Provide direct and consultative services in inclusion, resource, and specialized instructional settings.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Connecticut certification in Special Education (165 Comprehensive Special Education, Grades K-12).

Experience interpreting educational evaluations and using assessment data to inform instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

CT Certification in Special Education (165, 265, or 065)

Excellent teaming, collaboration and communication skills.

The ability to differentiate instruction.

SALARY:

Per NFEA Contract
