Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role guiding middle schoolers as a Special Education Teacher for the full academic year. This contract position focuses on supporting 15 seventh and eighth-grade students, providing an opportunity to create a meaningful and lasting impact within a collaborative educational environment. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid state certification in Special Education Experience working with middle school-aged students, preferably in grades 7-8 Strong knowledge of developing and implementing IEPs Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow teachers, support staff, and families Skill in classroom management and positive behavior supports Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Adaptable, patient, and proactive in meeting students' diverse needs
What You'll Do:
Teach and support a small caseload of 15 students in core academic and life skills Tailor lesson plans to build on individual strengths and address learning challenges Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly Coordinate with general education teachers, aides, and therapists to implement IEP goals Foster a classroom culture of respect, safety, and growth-minded learning Attend IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as required Document progress and maintain compliance with state and federal special education requirements This full-time, school-year role offers a unique chance to advocate for and champion students' success, developing strong bonds along the way.
