2026/2027 school year, with a strong likelihood of extending into 2027/2028 Sevn Workforce Solutions is hiring two High School Special Education Teachers in New London, CT. Same pay, same schedule, same building. The difference is the setting you'd be walking into. Here's what I'll tell you up front: this district isn't just trying to get through the year. They're looking for teachers they want back. Both assignments are written for 2026-2027, and if it's a good fit on both sides, there's a strong chance you're invited to stay for 2027-2028. That's a real advantage, and I'll explain why below. The Two Openings Apply once. Tell us which one you're open to and we'll help you figure it out. 1. Special Education Resource Teacher You'd be providing resource support to students with IEPs, and working collaboratively in co-taught general education classrooms to help students hit their individual goals and objectives. If you like partnering with gen ed staff and supporting kids across an inclusion model, this is your seat. 2. Neurodivergent Special Education Teacher You'd be supporting a specialized neurodivergent classroom serving students with more intensive special education needs, delivering individualized instruction and support aligned to student IEPs. If you've run a self-contained or intensive needs room and you're comfortable leading paras and building structure, this one's for you. Never Done a Travel Contract Before? Read This. You've may have heard of a Travel Nurses and Travel Therapists. Special Education Teachers can do the exact same thing now, and honestly, most teachers I talk to have no idea it's an option. A travel contract means you take your license on the road. You work a district in another part of your state or in another state entirely, usually for about 9 months, and when the school year wraps you go home, rest, and decide what's next. With these two roles, "what's next" might just be coming back to a team you already know. Or you're the adventerous type, and prefer to contract at another district in another state! To qualify, you have to live 50 miles or more from the district. That distance is what makes you eligible for tax-free stipends covering housing, meals and incidentals, and that's where the money really changes. Why Teachers Take These The pay. Travel contracts run about 40-65% higher than a standard fully taxed W2 role. That's not a small bump. Tax-free stipends. Housing and meal stipends lower your taxable income and raise what actually lands in your account. You pick the map. New district, new community, new experience, and you choose where and when. Your resume gets stronger. Different school systems, different programs, a bigger network. It shows. Real time off. Finish the year, take a breath, travel, do nothing. Then decide. You can also just stay. A strong first year often turns into a second one. That's the part people miss about travel. You get travel money with the option of long term stability, and you still keep the freedom to move on if you want to. You don't have to commit to one district for the next five years to do meaningful work. That's the whole point. Why Work With Sevn 20+ years of staffing experience. Your recruiter matters. Our team makes sure you're supported, paid well, and placed somewhere you actually want to be. Top tier pay. $2,200
•2,350 per week on the travel package (estimated net equivalent to someone salaried at $81
•87/hr in Connecticut). Weekly pay and full benefits. 40+ health insurance options to choose from, paid sick time, and tax-free stipends. A team that picks up the phone. From onboarding through the last day of your assignment. We handle year two. If the district wants you back, we take care of the extension paperwork, re-credentialing and the new pay package. You just keep teaching. What You'll Be Doing Delivering specially designed, individualized instruction to high school students with IEPs Carrying a higher level case management load and keeping IEPs, timelines and goals compliant Writing and implementing IEPs alongside support staff and families Tracking student progress and adjusting instruction and interventions when something isn't working Showing up for IEP meetings and team discussions What You Need Bachelor's or Master's in Special Education (required) Active Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certification, or the ability to obtain one School based experience working with special needs students. High school experience preferred. Solid knowledge of IEP development, implementation and case management Co-teaching or inclusion experience for the resource role, or self-contained and intensive needs experience for the neurodivergent room Interested? Apply today and let me know which role you're eyeing, or apply for both and we'll talk it through. If you've got questions about how travel contracts work, how the stipends are calculated, or what your actual take home would look like, ask me.
