Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students to achieve their fullest potential by supporting those who are deaf or hard of hearing in an engaging school environment near Waterbury, CT. This contract role offers the chance to make a direct impact on student learning and inclusion while collaborating with a dedicated educational team.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or closely related field Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various communication modalities Experience working with children or students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably within a school setting Ability to adapt instructional strategies and support materials to address diverse student needs Strong communication skills for collaborating with school staff, families, and support personnel

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both in inclusion and resource settings Assess student needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes to inform instructional adjustments Develop and implement IEP goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team Serve as a resource and advocate, providing guidance and training to classroom teachers and support staff Facilitate communication between students, families, and the school community to promote student success and accessibility Utilize technology and adaptive resources to support teaching and student engagement Experience the reward of creating an accessible and nurturing environment for students while enjoying the flexibility of contract work.
