A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Dates:
August-October 2026
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Deliver instructional lessons tailored to the specific needs of each student, ensuring they can actively participate and succeed in the classroom.
Caseload:
4-6th Grade

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • MUST have Active CT Teaching Certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs).
