A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Responsibilities Facilitate engaging learning experiences for middle school students (approximately ages 11-14) Differentiate instruction to support a variety of learning styles and abilities Foster curiosity, critical thinking, executive functioning, and independence Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with the Director and teaching team Monitor student progress and communicate observations with the Director Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and community activities Prepare and reset the classroom each day Complete attendance and classroom documentation using our

Experience working with middle school-aged students Familiarity with homeschooling, microschools, tutoring, private education, or other alternative learning environments Experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Anxiety, or other learning differences Strong communication and organizational skills Reliable, positive, flexible, and collaborative
Preferred:
