In this role, you will provide compassionate care, ensure the health and safety of cats/kittens and dogs/puppies, and support the daily operations of our Melrose animal handling facility. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a safe, nurturing environment for animals in need. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in animal care and health, administering medications, and disease prevention and containment while working with a passionate team committed to animal welfare. Responsibilities Assist with daily animal care routines including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status. Handle animals safely and confidently using proper techniques for different species such as dogs and cats. Administer medications and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions to support recovery and health maintenance. Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, behaviors, and medical histories in compliance with protocols. Contribute to animal bios and profiles by providing pictures and notes. Skills Proven experience working with animals in kennel environments or pet care settings. Strong knowledge of animal husbandry practices of cats/kittens and dogs/puppies. Familiarity with administering medication , signs of stress, and symptoms of various dog/cat diseases/parasites. Skilled in reading cat and dog behavior. Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members effectively. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting animals or supplies and mopping/sweeping and walking dogs.
