VPK Teacher Position Summary The VPK Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and academically engaging classroom environment for Voluntary Prekindergarten students. The teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction, support students' social-emotional and academic development, maintain a well-managed classroom, and prepare students for a successful transition to kindergarten. The VPK Teacher will work collaboratively with school leadership, instructional staff, families, and support personnel to ensure that each student receives a high-quality early childhood education experience consistent with the school's mission and Florida VPK requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans and learning experiences. Provide instruction that supports early literacy, phonics, language development, mathematics, science, social studies, physical development, and creative expression. Implement the school's adopted curriculum and instructional expectations. Support kindergarten readiness by developing students' foundational academic, social, emotional, communication, and self-help skills. Establish clear classroom routines, procedures, and expectations that promote a positive learning environment. Maintain effective classroom management using age-appropriate and positive behavior-support strategies. Differentiate instruction and activities to address individual student developmental levels, learning styles, and needs. Monitor, document, and assess student growth and developmental progress. Maintain accurate student records, assessment information, attendance, and required VPK documentation. Use student data and observations to inform instruction and provide appropriate interventions or additional support. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and individual needs. Build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom. Actively supervise students throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, transitions, meals, recess, and other activities. Follow all school policies, procedures, safety protocols, and applicable Florida VPK and early childhood education requirements. Maintain confidentiality of student and family information. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, parent conferences, school events, and other assigned activities. Collaborate with instructional assistants, exceptional student education personnel, administrators, and other school staff as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration. Qualifications Meet the applicable Florida requirements for serving as a VPK instructional provider/teacher. Appropriate Florida credential, certification, or educational qualification for the position. 45 hours of
