Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract An exceptional opportunity awaits for a skilled professional to deliver vital Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) services across multiple schools along the Southeast Florida Coast. This contract position requires someone with experience serving K-12 students as an itinerant educator. Work directly with a diverse caseload while collaborating with school teams to ensure all students receive the support they need. In this role, you'll be responsible for providing direct DHH services, assisting with Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs), supporting Usher Syndrome screenings, and gathering audiological evaluations for upload to PEER systems. You'll travel between several sites, addressing the needs of K-12 students in general and special education settings.
Qualifications and Skills:
Active Florida Department of Education teaching certificate in Deaf/Hard of Hearing required Experience providing educational services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings Ability to work independently across multiple school locations as an itinerant provider Commitment to supporting educational access and success for students with hearing loss Must meet all current credentialing requirements, with flexibility in utilizing existing fingerprint records
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver DHH support and instruction across assigned schools Administer/assist with FLEs and Usher screenings district-wide Collect, organize, and upload audiological assessments Collaborate with educators, audiologists, and support staff to develop and implement individualized student plans Maintain clear communication and detailed documentation in compliance with school and state protocols The assignment spans the 2026-2027 academic year, running full-time (35 hours weekly) from August 5 through June 1.
