Lead Teacher - Adult Day Training Program Twin Angels Academy ADT Full-Time | Monday-Friday |
Day Shift Pay:
$18.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Twin Angels Academy is seeking an energetic, dependable, organized, and experienced Lead Teacher to oversee daily classroom instruction, consumer engagement, staff support, and required program documentation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate is a leader, teacher, planner, and strong documenter who can take ownership of the classroom and ensure consumers receive meaningful, goal-focused services each day. Key Responsibilities Lead daily classroom instruction and structured activities. Develop and implement weekly lesson plans based on consumer needs, interests, Support Plan goals, and Individual Implementation Plans. Provide instruction in functional academics, money skills, social skills, communication, independent living, health and safety, and community awareness. Plan educational activities, arts and crafts, group projects, games, and community outings. Ensure consumers remain appropriately supervised and actively engaged throughout the program day. Provide leadership and direction to DSPs and other classroom staff. Assign classroom responsibilities and ensure staff are appropriately positioned throughout the classroom to provide adequate supervision. Model professional and respectful interactions with consumers. Assist with behavioral interventions and communicate behavioral or safety concerns to management. Maintain a clean, organized, structured, and welcoming classroom environment. Documentation Responsibilities The Lead Teacher will be responsible for ensuring classroom documentation is accurate, individualized, timely, and connected to each consumer's goals and services .
Responsibilities include:
Complete and/or review daily service documentation and progress notes . Document consumer participation, activities, choices, behaviors, supports provided, and progress toward identified goals. Ensure notes are individualized and accurately reflect what occurred during the program day. Ensure documentation corresponds with the consumer's Support Plan (SP) and Implementation Plan (IP) goals. Review documentation completed by assigned classroom staff for accuracy and completeness. Correct documentation errors and communicate needed corrections to staff. Complete behavior documentation and incident-related documentation when required. Maintain classroom attendance and required activity records. Ensure documentation is completed within established deadlines. Immediately report missing, inaccurate, or concerning documentation to management/compliance. Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA, APD, and Twin Angels documentation requirements. Work collaboratively with the Compliance Coordinator and management to maintain documentation readiness for monitoring, audits, and state reviews. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Exceptional Student Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred . Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred. Teaching, ADT, special education, DSP, or human-services experience preferred. Leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong documentation and written communication skills required. Ability to write clear, professional, objective, and individualized progress notes. Strong organizational and classroom-management skills. Ability to develop lesson plans and facilitate activities independently. Must be dependable, punctual, professional, patient, and able to take initiative. Must successfully complete required background screening and training. The successful candidate should be able to walk into the program, understand the daily expectations, lead instruction, engage consumers, direct classroom staff, complete documentation, and communicate concerns without requiring constant supervision. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching while also understanding that quality documentation is an essential part of providing quality services.
Schedule Monday-Friday Program Hours:
8:00 AM-4:00 PM Full-time hours may include preparation, planning, documentation, and other responsibilities before or after program hours.
