Job Description

About Crayons to Credits At Crayons to Credits, we believe every child deserves an education that is built around their individual needs.
Our mission is simple:
Break barriers. Build futures. We're looking for a compassionate, Florida Certified Teacher to join our team in a role that is unlike a traditional classroom setting. This position focuses on providing individualized educational services to children with complex medical needs and limited mobility. It requires someone who can think creatively, adapt instruction in the moment, and build meaningful relationships with students and their families. If you became a teacher because you wanted to make a difference, this is the kind of position that reminds you why you chose education in the first place. We are currently finalizing schedules with families, but we anticipate direct instructional services to take place for approximately one hour per day, Monday through Thursday. Teaching time, this position includes lesson planning, preparation, documentation, and collaboration, bringing the total schedule to approximately 16-20 hours per week. If you're interested in additional hours, there may also be opportunities to support students at our St. Augustine or Jacksonville (Southside) learning centers. Our St. Augustine campus is located less than 15 minutes from the medical facility, while our Jacksonville location is approximately 45 minutes away. For those commuting from Jacksonville, a travel stipend may be available. What You'll Do Your primary responsibility will be providing individualized/small group academic instruction that meets each student where they are academically, emotionally, and physically. Every child learns differently, and every lesson should reflect that. This role combines strong educational instruction with sensory-based learning experiences. You should feel comfortable incorporating calming lights, music, bubbles, tactile materials, movement, and other sensory supports to encourage engagement while maintaining a strong academic foundation. The goal is never just to keep students busy. It's to create meaningful learning experiences that are accessible, engaging, and individualized. You'll also collaborate with caregivers, therapists, and medical professionals to ensure each student's educational needs are being met while documenting progress and communicating regularly with leadership. Work alongside and receive mentorship from our Founder & CEO, Brandie Neal, whose decade-plus of experience in special education and individualized instruction has shaped the heart of Crayons to Credits. We're Looking for Someone Who You believe every child is capable of learning. You understand that flexibility is one of the most valuable tools an educator can have. You're patient, creative, and willing to adjust your approach when a student needs something different. You celebrate progress in all forms, whether that's mastering a new academic skill or simply building the confidence to try something new. Most importantly, you care deeply about building relationships. We believe students learn best when they feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. Qualifications Florida Teaching Certificate (Required) Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Experience working with students with disabilities, special education, ESE, hospital/homebound instruction, or medically complex learners is strongly preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Reliable transportation Ability to work independently while collaborating with families and other professionals Benefits Starting pay of $30.00+ per hour Flexible schedule Travel stipend available for qualifying commuters from Jacksonville Tuition reimbursement Small student-to-teacher ratios A supportive team that truly values its educators If you're looking for a position where you'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact while being supported by a team that believes in doing what's best for kids, we'd love to hear from you. Join us as we continue breaking barriers and building futures, one student at a time.
