The Point of Care Specialist implements the standardized Point of Care program throughout the Cleveland Clinic Health System under the direction of the Point of Care Medical Director and the Point of Care Manager. In this role, you will coordinate and ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g. CAP, ODH, TJC, OSHA, etc.) for the non-waived Point of Care Testing programs in assigned areas on main campus, at the Family Health Centers and/or the community hospitals. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Manage the Point of Care testing programs in assigned area. Facilitate and manage the initiation of innovative programs. Identify existing Point of Care Testing programs system wide and implement consolidation and standardization strategy goals as directed by the Point of Care Medical Director and the Point of Care Manager. Collect quality metrics, review findings, and identify gaps and risks. Implement process improvements to mitigate risk. Monitor quality control records and review trends. Conduct audits and mock inspections to ensure compliance and accreditation readiness. Prepare for and participates in accreditation inspections/surveys. Develops action plan/response to deficiencies. Manage accreditation and compliance activities i.e., qualification documentation of testing personnel, training records, competency assessment, proficiency testing surveys, CAP test activity list, Lab Director sites visit, instrument verification/correlation/calibration verification, test procedure development/revision/review, etc. Act as a Point of Care compliance educator and consultant to clinical operational staff. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or Clinical Laboratory Science Must be licensed in the State of Florida at the supervisor's level One or more specialties: Hematology, Chemistry, or all licenses Three years of clinical laboratory training or experience, or both, in non-waived testing Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification Additional experience in quality assurance or quality auditing Clinical training experience Medical technologist experience
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to sit, stand or walk extensively. May be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. May drive distances throughout central and northern Ohio. Light lifting may be required. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, communicable diseases, body fluids, etc.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows universal precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary:
$69,600.00
Maximum Annual Salary:
$106,132.50 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
