What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed instruction aligned with WIDA standards and Georgia standards. Differentiate instruction across listening, speaking, reading, and writing based on students' proficiency levels. Support students with limited or interrupted formal education through accelerated foundational literacy and language instruction. Collaborate with content teachers to embed language objectives and scaffolded supports into grade-level instruction. Use data cycles to monitor progress and adjust services to meet individual language and academic needs. Partner with families, providing culturally responsive communication and translation support when needed. Manage required screening, identification, assessment, and monitoring processes for English learners. Maintain accurate records of services, assessments, and student progress while supporting compliance documentation. Participate in team meetings to support multilingual and refugee, immigrant, or newcomer students in accessing grade-level content.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in special education or related field; master's preferred. Valid GA teaching certification in Special Education (K-12 or 6-12). Minimum of 2-3 years of special education teaching experience. Knowledge of WIDA standards and Georgia requirements for English learners. Experience supporting diverse learners including students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and students with interrupted formal education. Proficiency in a language represented within the community is a plus. Strong collaboration skills, professionalism, and an understanding of culturally responsive instruction. Ability to differentiate instruction and utilize data-driven approaches.
