Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a Special Education Teacher supporting young learners in a self-contained classroom environment. This full-time, contract position spans from ASAP through May 7th, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference with a small K-5 caseload. You'll work closely with a dedicated team and two paraprofessionals to provide specialized instruction and guidance for eight students, helping them reach their fullest potential in a supportive setting.
Key Qualifications:
Current certification in Special Education Adaptive curriculum certificate required Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-5), preferably in a self-contained classroom Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom climate
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction using adaptive curriculum to meet diverse learning needs Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with colleagues and families Provide clear structure and behavioral supports in the classroom Coordinate with two paraprofessionals to facilitate individualized attention and intervention Maintain detailed documentation on student progress and participate in IEP meetings Partner with related service providers to ensure holistic student support Encourage growth and celebrate milestones to boost student confidence and engagement
