Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, or eligibility to obtain certification Experience teaching students with visual impairments in educational settings Proficiency in adapting curriculum and materials for diverse visual needs Understanding of assistive technology and tools used by students with visual impairments Strong communication skills for working closely with staff, students, and families Ability to travel to various sites if needed

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and methods as necessary Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and create accessible resources Assess and monitor students progress, adjusting strategies and goals as needed Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs Offer guidance and support to school staff regarding best practices for accessibility Introduce and reinforce the use of Braille, low vision devices, and assistive technology as appropriate Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP meetings Imagine the impact you can have by helping students develop their academic, social, and independence skills.
