A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.
This is a local travel job- We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Caregiver to provide personalized care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related conditions. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status; communicate findings effectively to healthcare teams Administer medications accurately following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and nutritional needs tailored to individual dietary requirements Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being; engage residents in social activities and therapeutic exercises Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring proper infection control practices in accordance with healthcare standards Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings; support residents in maintaining independence within their community Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable Demonstrated experience in patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and implementing care plans Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and hospice or palliative care practices Familiarity with caring for individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts; manual handling skills for heavy lifting and patient transfers Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy; experience working within legal and ethical standards of healthcare delivery Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals; experience providing direct support in home or community settings Certifications such as CPR/First Aid are required; additional certifications related to geriatrics or specialized care are a plus Join us if you're passionate about making a positive impact through dedicated caregiving!
