Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a contract Special Education Teacher supporting inclusion classrooms for early elementary students during the 2024-2027 school years. This full-time role places you at the heart of a supportive educational environment, guiding approximately 8-10 PreK through 2nd grade students—primarily 1st and 2nd graders—with diverse learning and developmental needs. You'll collaborate with other talented educators and contribute your expertise to foster growth, self-regulation, communication, and independence for your students. This engaging, hands-on position will challenge your creativity and allow you to build authentic relationships with children and their families.
Key Qualifications:
Active GaPSC Teaching license with P-12 Special Education endorsement Dyslexia endorsement required Experience in an elementary school, preferably in inclusion settings Comfort working with students experiencing autism, developmental delays, learning disabilities, and speech/language delays Commitment to positive behavior supports and differentiated instruction
What You'll Do:
Deliver specialized instruction and support to meet IEP goals and academic objectives Work closely with general education teachers to ensure a seamless inclusion experience Provide supervision for toileting needs (one student, with a toileting goal), ensuring dignity and independence Adapt lessons and classroom strategies to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities Track student progress, maintain records, and contribute to IEP meetings This assignment runs July 29th, 2024 through May 21st, 2027 (inclusive of pre-planning days), at 37.5 hours per week.
