Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification) Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in deaf education Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner with students, staff, and families Prior experience in a school-based setting is preferred
Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various grade levels Develop and implement IEPs, adapting instructional materials and strategies to meet individual needs Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to support inclusion Monitor student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings Advocate for accessible learning environments, serving as a resource to staff and families Utilize technology and assistive devices to enhance student access to curriculum
