9677912-30736 Job Description A rewarding contract opportunity is open for a Special Education Teacher to work full-time in a Pre-K program serving children ages 3-5 with varying levels of need. This role is based within an elementary school setting and runs from now through May 21st, 2027. Youll collaborate with a supportive team to provide early intervention and instruction tailored to students needs. Responsibilities include assisting with toilet training and diapering, feeding, as well as implementing behavioral and academic supports. Many students in this program are non-verbal or have limited verbal skills, requiring creativity and compassion in delivering instruction and care.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with endorsements for both Special and General Education (covering Pre-K). Experience working with young children, ideally ages 3-5, in a special education setting. Knowledge of adaptive communication strategies and behavioral support methods. Comfort with assisting children who are developing toileting independence and feeding skills. Patient, compassionate, and collaborative team member.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver individualized instruction for Pre-K students with diverse needs. Support students in self-care tasks, including toilet training and feeding. Develop and implement strategies for students with non-verbal or low-verbal communication abilities. Partner with support staff, therapists, and families to create a nurturing and structured learning environment. Document and track student progress according to school and district procedures.
