Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a welcoming school environment near Habersham, GA. This full-time, contract opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about providing specialized instruction and advocating for accessible learning for all. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and play a key role in shaping individualized education plans for your students.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure/certification Current Georgia Educator Certificate Experience as a school-based TVI, particularly in instructing students in Braille and implementing the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Familiarity with serving students in settings ranging from general education to ASD/severe needs classrooms Strong communication skills for IEP participation and documentation Reliable transportation for in-person coverage as required
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across grade levels Collaborate in IEP meetings, contributing progress reports and informed recommendations Instruct and adapt Braille/large print materials as needed, ensuring accessibility Provide guidance on the Expanded Core Curriculum, focusing on independent living and functional skills Support school staff in understanding VI accommodations and assistive technology Accurately track services and complete documentation for progress monitoring and Medicaid billing where required
Dates and Schedule:
Contract runs from July 31, 2026, to June 3, 2027 Up to 30 hours per week during the school year This position offers the chance to shape learning journeys while working within a supportive educational team.
