Kaimiloa Elementary: Special Education Fully Self-Contained Teacher, 73369 (2026-00854)

The Elementary Special Education Teacher (Fully Self-Contained) provides specialized instruction to students with significant learning, behavioral, and/or developmental needs within a self-contained classroom setting. The teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), creating a structured and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with staff and families to support student growth across academic, social, and behavioral domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.

Desired Experience:

Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.

Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings; e xercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions; maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others. The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom.
