A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and school-wide initiatives to promote best practices in childhood development and education administration. Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral incidents while ensuring clear communication with parents and guardians about student progress. Experience Proven classroom experience working with students across various age groups, particularly in K-5 or private school settings. Strong background in curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and classroom management techniques. Experience working with children with special needs or those requiring early intervention services. Familiarity with teaching physical education, library services, tutoring strategies, and the use of learning technology tools. Knowledge of behavior management practices and working with children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental challenges. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, staff, and community partners to support student success.
