Job Description

JOB GOAL
Provide support and assistance including consultation regarding effective teaching techniques, materials, and resources; assessment procedures; effective programming; inclusion, and assistance with the development of the IEP. Compliance of federal and state monitoring mandates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Master's Degree Meet state certification requirements Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Desired Two years' experience as a consulting teacher in special education especially working with students in a behavioral program Special Education experience Administrative experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(or other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Board) Develop an appropriate schedule that reflects the various aspects of the job Acquire knowledge and skills through professional, activities, courses, conferences, individual projects and study, and meetings to disseminate to others Assist teachers in materials' evaluation, selection, and implementation Provide assistance in planning instructional programs that meet the requirements of the IEP/IIP Help teachers plan appropriate intervention strategies to increase program's validity to student Work with exceptional students upon request of special education teacher Assist teachers in devising appropriate teacher-made materials for students Assist director of support services in a periodic review of special education staff's compliance with state and federal regulations Assist, as appropriate, regular and special educators with handicapped students who are working in regular classrooms Work as a liaison between building people and support services Assist in providing in-service training and workshops to regular and special education teachers Assist the director in planning and conducting in-service training for special education teachers Consult with teachers concerning problems of classroom management and management techniques Performs other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent and/or Board may deem necessary.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands and work environment indicated below are examples of the physical aspects this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will regularly exert 10 to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time. Occasionally, physical requirements include the ability to navigate multi-story buildings during an emergency situation. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. OTHER License Requirement Possession of a valid Idaho Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier. Insurance Recommendation On regular occasions, this job classification requires the employee to use his/her personal vehicle to conduct district business. Therefore, personal auto insurance coverage of $300,000 or more is recommended.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Board approval and successful completion of federal background check and pre-employment drug free workplace screen.
