Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role making a real difference in students' lives as a Special Education Teacher. In this full-time contract position, you'll provide instruction and support to elementary-aged learners within a self-contained classroom setting. With a schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm, you'll have the opportunity to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for students in grades 3-5.

Qualifications & Experience:

Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Illinois or transferable credential) Prior experience teaching in a self-contained or special education classroom preferred Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff Ability to differentiate instruction and provide behavioral support tailored to individual needs

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in your class Deliver engaging, standards-based lessons adapted to meet diverse learning abilities Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related services staff to maximize student growth Assess student progress and maintain thorough, accurate documentation Create a positive, safe classroom environment that nurtures social and academic development Communicate regularly with families and contribute to team meetings and parent conferences This role offers a chance to work with dedicated colleagues and to contribute to meaningful progress for students.
