Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal role supporting high school students in a dynamic alternative program serving grades 9 through 12. You'll be part of a team dedicated to guiding learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities or ASD, helping them progress toward graduation in a supportive, flexible environment. This full-time contract position runs through the 2026-2027 school year, offering consistent weekday hours and a unique Wednesday schedule with an extended lunch break. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid LBS1 certification for grades 9-12 required Experience with high school students preferred Bilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory Sound knowledge in developing and writing IEPs is essential Willingness to support learners with learning disabilities or ASD Candidates with IN state licenses may be considered
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct and guide students in a resource, self-contained, or co-taught setting Develop, implement, and document individualized education plans (IEPs) for a manageable rolling caseload—never exceeding 20 total, and typically 5-10 at any given time Adapt strategies to meet each student's unique learning needs Collaborate with onsite case managers and other professionals to ensure consistent support Maintain open communication with families and school staff Encourage accelerated achievement for eligible students in this alternative, fast-track program
