Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting students with visual impairments in a vibrant educational environment near Des Plaines, IL. This full-time contract role offers you the chance to make a tangible difference for 24 students, guiding them to success and independence. Your hours will be 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, allowing work-life balance while you dedicate your expertise where it matters most.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience or familiarity with adaptive technology, braille, and large print materials Ability to develop and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs Strong collaboration skills to work with general education staff, therapists, and families Compassion, patience, and creativity in supporting diverse learning styles Prior experience in a school setting, preferably serving visually impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction in core academic areas, social skills, and mobility, tailored for students with visual impairments Conduct assessments to determine functional vision and learning needs Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessible educational environments Serve as a resource for school staff and families regarding best practices and assistive tools Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring for each student Experience the reward of empowering students and expanding their potential every day.
