Job Description

Passionate about empowering students with visual impairments to thrive in a supportive school environment? This direct hire opportunity could be the ideal next step in your career. This permanent, full-time position serves students across grades K-22, offering a chance to build lasting impact and foster meaningful relationships. The school operates Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, creating a predictable routine and work-life balance. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, youll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and classroom staff to tailor instructional experiences that meet each students unique needs.
Qualifications:
Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement Experience supporting students who are visually impaired, preferably in a K-22 educational setting Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and braille instruction Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with families and staff
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized instructional plans for visually impaired students Adapt general curriculum using specialized materials, tools, and assistive technology Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living techniques Consult with classroom teachers and team members to facilitate inclusion Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and meetings Act as an advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school community Cultivate your expertise and passion in a role where your commitment will enhance educational access and independence for students with visual impairments.
