Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive K-5 environment located near McHenry, IL. This role focuses on leading a self-contained classroom for students on the autism spectrum, with a dedicated team of three paraprofessionals and comprehensive related service staff to help maximize student success. You'll be welcomed into a collaborative setting at Valley View Elementary, where individualized learning and teamwork are prioritized.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Illinois LBS1 and PEL credentials required Experience working with students diagnosed with autism preferred Demonstrated ability to create and implement individualized instruction plans Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and related service providers Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction to a caseload of eight elementary-aged students in a self-contained classroom Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) Lead and collaborate with a team of paraprofessionals to support student learning and growth Maintain communication with support staff, families, and administration Participate in meetings, training, and required district onboarding, including fingerprinting as part of pre-employment checks This contract position runs from August 17, 2026, through May 26, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:45 AM to 4:05 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
